Q1. Lemuel Gulliver, surgeon to Antelope, sets sail to the south sea on May 4th, 1699. At first the voyage is without any mishap what happen then?
Ans:- Lemuel Gulliver, surgeon to Antelope, sets sail to the south sea on May 4th, 1699, and their voyage at first was very prosperous. But when they were on their way to the East Indies , they were driven by a violent storm to the north - west of Van Diemen's land. By an observation they found themselves in the latitude of thirty degree and two minutes south. Twelve of their crew members were dead by immoderate labour and ill food and the rest were in a very weak condition. On 5th Nov, the seamen spied a rock within their reach. But wind was so strong that their ship was driven directly upon it and immediately split. Six of the crew, somehow managed to shift into an another boat that too overset by a sudden flurry from the north. And this accident made Gulliver helpless and then Gulliver relied himself on the mercy of wind and tide.
Q2. What is the result of the ship striking against a rock? What happens to the ship and the crew?
Ans:- When the ship was on its way to the East Indies,it striked against a rock and immediately split into many parts. Then crew had to shift into an another boat which might have been put on the board as lifeboat. As we know, that all crew members were in a very weak condition and whatever a little energy they had, they used them too in shifting into the boat.
Q3. How does Gulliver manage to reach the safety of sea-shore?
Ans:- When Gulliver's boat was overset by a sudden flurry, he swam as fortune directed him. Till now, he had not much energy that he could swim by his own. So, he was dependent on the mercy of wind and tide that gently pushed him towards shore. He often let his legs drop in order to ensure that there is bottom or not, and at the time when Gulliver found himself within his depth, his legs strike against a declivity and it was so small that he walked near half mile to get to the shore.
Q4. Falling asleep,Gulliver wakes up about nine hours later and is amazed to find ----what? Describe in detail.
Ans:- After a long hours of struggling, Gulliver got to the shore and  found that there is no sign of any house and inhabitants that made him very disappointed. Gulliver became so tired till now that he laid down on the grassy field where he stood. He wakes up about nine hours later and is amazed to find that he is unable to stir. It was because he has been fastened with strong string and pegs.
Q5. What is this Place where Gulliver finds himself shipwrecked? Describe in detail the inhabitants of this strange land.
Ans:- When Gulliver's ship got wrecked, he found himself in the latitude of 30 degree 20 minutes south, a little away from the country of Lilliputians.
The inhabitants of this country were so amazing. Their height was merely 6 inches and if we talk about their voices then it was shrill. But they were very good in mathematics and engineering field. They were good mechanics too.
Q6. Why is Gulliver imprisoned by these tiny mortals?
Ans:- When these tiny mortals found Gulliver sleeping in their territory then first they got amazed by seeing this mountain man and second they imprisoned them . It could be the law of their country. And logically, these tiny mortals were so terrified that they didn't want to take any risk of any casualties by leaving the man free.
Q7. How is he treated by them? Why is Gulliver impressed by them? What amazing qualities do these tiny mortals possess?
Ans:- These tiny mortals showed great hospitality in treating Gulliver. In spite of being terrified by the mountain man they provided the amount of food and drinks as they could afford. These tiny mortals do possess some amazing qualities in some fields that impressed Gulliver. These tiny mortals not only created a machine that could bear the weight of Gulliver and lifted the giant one and slung into their machine but also carried them to their capital city where they arranged a place to make him stay.
Q8. Language is a barrier. How do Gulliver and these tiny people interact and understand each other?
Ans:- Yes of course, the language was barrier there. At first Gulliver started interacting with these tiny mortals with the help of gesture but after some time, due to royal order, some learned people were appointed to teach Gulliver their language. After some time Gulliver himself noticed that he is doing well in learning the new language.
Q9. Shifting Gulliver, who was a giant in comparison to the tiny Lilliputians succeed in doing it? Give a detailed account.
Ans:- Yes, shifting Gulliver, who was a giant in comparison to the tiny Lilliputians, was an amazing feat. To carry Gulliver to the capital city of Lilliput, the king immediately set 500 carpenters and engineers at work, to prepare the greatest engine they had. It was a frame of wood raised 3 inches from the ground, about 7 feet long and 4 wide, moving upon 22 wheels. When they succeeded in creating the engine then it brought parallel to Gulliver. Then 80 poles, each of one foot high were erected for lifting Gulliver, and very strong cords of the bigness of packthread were fastened by hooks to many bandages, which the workmen had girt round the neck , hand , body , and legs of Gulliver. Nine hundred of the strongest men were employed to draw up these cords , by many pulleys fastened on the poles, and thus , in less then 3 hours, he was raised and slung into engine and there tied fast.
Q10. How did Gulliver reach Lilliput?
Ans:- Gulliver started his voyage from Bristol to South sea on May 4th, 1699. When they were on their way to the East Indies , that time their ship 'Antelope ' was driven by a violent wind and caused to strike against a rock that we call iceberg. And due to this, their ship got wrecked and the crew had to shift into an another boat that too unfortunately overset by a sudden flurry then Gulliver swam as the wind and tide directed him and making him reach' Lilliput '.
Q11. Describe the way Gulliver was fed by the Lilliputians.
Ans:-  Gulliver, in spite of being giant as compared to Lilliputians, was creating some problems in arranging victuals for himself as Lilliputians neither have proper containers that could hold the amount of food adequate for Gulliver nor have the proper amount of food that could be feed to giant man. But the Lilliputians didn't let their hope to die. They applied several ladders to the sides of Gulliver , on which above 100 of inhabitants mounted and walked towards his mouth, laden with baskets full of meat, which had been provided and sent thither by the King's order. Gulliver ate them by two or three at a mouthful. They supplied him as fast as they could , showing a thousand marks of wonder and astonishment at his bulk and appetite. Then they slung up, with great dexterity, one of their largest hogshead , then rolled it towards hand, and beat out the top . He drank it at a draught.
